Market Gardens

Camphill runs a 5-acre market garden in Angus, using biodynamic principles that avoid artificial fertilisers in favour of long-term growing techniques.

We operate a 5-acre market garden on our property in Angus, with two greenhouses, following biodynamic principles that forgo chemical fertilizers in favour of sustainable growing practices that prioritize soil health. Several supported adults participate in our garden program, but everyone in our community benefits from the fruits of our labour: our gardens provide food security for our residents, who receive the fresh produce harvested from our land; and we operate market gardens, harvesting specific crops for sale at local markets, the sales of which go back into our programs to create even more opportunities for adults with disabilities. We grow potatoes, carrots, beets, garlic, onion, squash, tomatoes, greens, cucumbers, herbs & lavender, haskap berries, and more!

Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting Camphill.
With a generous grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation we were able to upgrade our greenhouse, providing year-round access to garden programs and food, and creating the capacity to support individuals safely in smaller groups in response to the new realities of COVID related protocols.
