Land Acknowledgment
As settlers on these lands, it is important to acknowledge that Camphill Communities Ontario is situated on the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg people. The Anishnaabeg include the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Pottawatomi nations, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. We would like to honour the First Nations communities in the area and wish to acknowledge that their ancestors were the first stewards of these lands.
Canada’s history did not begin with the arrival of the settlers or the creation of Canada. The history of the First Peoples in this continent began much earlier. It is important that we recognize and respect the history of this country. By acknowledging its traditional territories, we are recognizing and respecting the First Peoples of this continent. This acknowledgment is key to any relationship and reconciliation going forward. We are committed to being active participants in reconciliation. We are committed to continuing to amplify Indigenous voices and learning how our work affects Indigenous People.
