Camphill Communities of Ontario is an accredited provider of support for adults of all ages who have different abilities, located in Barrie and on our Nottawasaga village near Angus. We are a not for profit organization dedicated to creating unique and inspiring residential, vocational and learning opportunities for people with cognitive and developmental disabilities in both rural and urban settings in Simcoe County. We support people in directing their own lives and in promoting partnerships, opportunities, well-being, freedom and contributions in their community. We are a community where people of diverse abilities enjoy quality of life and personal growth in a rich social and cultural environment.
We have openings for board members and committee members who are interested in joining this truly unique and innovative organization as we plan for the future in a challenging environment.
Your board commitment is for a 3-year term, renewable twice. We meet 10 times a year. We are governance board that oversees our commitment to our companions, whom we support, and our community, through policy development and implementation of our strategic plan. Your strengths might include a knowledge of social services, healthcare, finance, or law. Previous board experience is an asset.
We also have opportunities to join us as a committee member. We have a Nominations and Governance Committee, an Advocacy Committee, a Quality Assurance Committee, Stewardship Committee, Rights Review Committee and Finance Committee. Our Barrie locations include The Camphill Store on Dunlop Street, 3 homes and our head office. We also have 5 homes, a working farm, woodworking shop, pottery studio, organic gardens, and a cultural centre situated on 280 acres on the Nottawasaga River near Angus. We create pottery, art, woodcrafts and much more and we sell our produce at local farmers’ markets.

Camphill Communities Ontario (CCO) is part of an international organization that creates vibrant communities supporting people with developmental disabilities in residential and day programs. In Camphill, everyone contributes to and benefits from the life of the community. Caring for each other and environmental stewardship are basic responsibilities, along with meaningful work enabling learning, the results of which produce beautiful crafts, agricultural products, cultural events and a sense of belonging and inclusion. CCO has locations in downtown Barrie, and just outside of Angus. From time to time we seek direct support staff who would value the opportunity to work in this unique organization.
Barrie location. 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and overtime as required. Work schedules are based on the needs of the persons supported.
SummaryThe SIL staff provides supervision and support as needed to people with developmental disabilities in their own homes and within the community to work towards their goals, teaching life skills, community integration and social skills that assist with daily living.

Part time is 28 to 40 hours biweekly (includes every other weekend).
SummaryThe Direct Support Worker provides supervision and support as needed to people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of daily living including personal care, domestic skills, home maintenance, money management, use of community businesses and resources, recreation, medical, medications and safety.
Due to the nature of the work, work schedules include a combination of days, afternoons and weekends and are based on the needs of the persons supported.
